New Books Offer Spiritual Guidance for High Holidays

Two new books, "Shlishi Ba'ashmoret" (Third in the Watch) and "Koli Ba'ashmoret" (My Voice in the Watch), offer spiritual guidance and inspirational stories for the upcoming High Holidays. The books draw from the teachings and lives of Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, known as the "Prince of Torah," and his wife, Rebbetzin Bat Sheva Kanievsky.

"Shlishi Ba'ashmoret," a newly expanded edition, was written at the request of Rebbetzin Kanievsky. It compiles her personal stories of modesty, reverence for God, and the power of prayer, which she shared during the early morning hours in the women's section of the synagogue. Rabbi Kanievsky himself attested to the stories' authenticity and their ability to foster reverence for God. This edition also includes a collection of practical segulot (spiritual remedies or practices) for opening the gates of salvation, specifically timed for the new year.

"Koli Ba'ashmoret," written about a decade later, provides insight into the daily life, leadership, and sanctity within the Kanievsky household. Rabbi Kanievsky reviewed the book shortly before his passing and praised it, requesting that it open with an introduction from his own work, emphasizing prayer as a central tenet of divine service.

Both books aim to provide readers with practical tools, tested segulot, and inspiration for heartfelt prayer as the Days of Awe and the holidays approach.
