Attempt to Smuggle Liquid Nicotine to Gaza Foiled at Border Crossing
Israeli authorities thwarted an attempt to smuggle approximately 100 bottles of liquid nicotine, each 1.5 liters, into the Gaza Strip via the Kerem Shalom crossing on Tuesday. The nicotine was concealed within beverage bottles.
The shipment was purchased by an Israeli company and approved for entry as humanitarian aid through a mechanism allowing private sector assistance to Gaza. The truck carrying the illicit goods was confiscated.
Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, Major General Yoram Yair, ordered an immediate freeze on the company's authorization to deliver aid to Gaza until further notice. The confiscated shipment was transferred for further processing.
