Prominent Rabbi's Funeral Attended by Thousands; Grandson Born Hours Later

Thousands of students and admirers of Rabbi Eliyahu Friedman, head of the 'Be'er HaChaim' yeshiva, attended his funeral procession in Jerusalem. The procession began at the 'Beit Shmuel' study hall in the Mattersdorf neighborhood, where Rabbi Friedman often prayed and studied, and proceeded to the Har HaMenuchot cemetery.

Among the prominent figures present were Rabbi Baruch Dov Povarsky, who traveled to Jerusalem specifically to honor Rabbi Friedman, Rabbi Azriel Auerbach, Rabbi Yehoshua Soloveitchik, head of the Brisk yeshiva, who briefly exited his vehicle to walk with the procession despite his frailty, Rabbi Shimon Galai, and Rabbi Michel Zilber.

Several eulogies were delivered by Rabbi Friedman's father-in-law, Rabbi Eliezer Diner, his relative Rabbi Shimon Galai, Rabbi Yisrael Gness, Rabbi Michel Zilber, Rabbi Yitzchak Yechezkel Ernfeld, Rabbi Chaim Peretz Berman, Rabbi Shmuel Dinkel, Rabbi Bezalel Friedman, and his sons and sons-in-law.

Remarkably, just hours after his passing and funeral, Rabbi Friedman's family received joyous news. Approximately ten minutes before sunset, his daughter gave birth to a son, a grandson for Rabbi Friedman's son-in-law, Rabbi Adler.
