Player's Wife Accuses Club President of Threatening Physical Violence

The wife of veteran Romanian footballer Valentin Crețu has revealed shocking details following his departure from Steaua Bucharest, alleging that the club's president threatened to physically assault him. Madalina Maria, Crețu's wife, stated on Instagram that her husband was threatened with "beatings" by club director Mihai Stoica. She defended Crețu, emphasizing his dedication and hard work for the team, and suggested that the incident was not related to sports performance but rather an attempt to force him out of the club. She wrote that after the threat, Crețu felt like giving up on the team.

Crețu's contract was terminated by club owner Gigi Becali, who explained his decision by stating that Crețu was too vocal and argumentative, particularly towards foreign players. Becali recounted an incident where Crețu allegedly confronted Arnold Garita, a former Hapoel Be'er Sheva player, and suggested Garita should go to China. Becali stated that he had only signed Crețu to a six-month contract because of his behavior and that he would not tolerate scandals within his team. He also mentioned that Crețu had questioned Stoica's issues with him, implying that if Stoica disliked him, he shouldn't remain with the club.
