Maccabi Tel Aviv Midfielder Uri Azou Likely to Leave Amidst Lack of Playing Time

Uri Azou, a young midfielder for Maccabi Tel Aviv, is reportedly facing a difficult situation as he has not received significant playing time at the start of the season, casting doubt on his future with the club. His uncle and former player, Ofir Azou, spoke to Sport 5 about Uri's frustration, stating that the player feels he is not getting opportunities despite being prepared and healthy.

Ofir Azou explained that Uri is very talented and loves Maccabi Tel Aviv, but feels he deserves a chance that hasn't materialized. "It's already not up to Uri," Ofir stated, highlighting the player's feeling of helplessness. His agents have reportedly received offers from four to five other Israeli Premier League clubs, and a decision will be made soon.

While Maccabi Tel Aviv reportedly has concerns about Uri's defensive commitment, Ofir believes this can be improved, arguing that a talented player can be developed. He suggested that Beitar Jerusalem could be a particularly good fit for his nephew due to the team's intense atmosphere.

With Uri's contract set to expire, his agents are pushing for a transfer, seeing it as an opportunity for him to move on if the club is not planning to build around him. Despite the potential departure, Ofir emphasized that the relationship between Uri and Maccabi Tel Aviv remains good. Other clubs reportedly interested include Maccabi Netanya, Hapoel Petah Tikva, and Hapoel Jerusalem.
