Deputy Minister: My Criticism of Ben-Gvir Is Just the Beginning

Deputy Minister Almog Cohen stated in a recent interview that his criticism of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir is "just first gear" and not personal, despite Ben-Gvir's refusal to heed Prime Minister Netanyahu's call to unite with fellow Minister Bezalel Smotrich. Cohen emphasized that Netanyahu's request for unity is about consolidating blocs, not diminishing any individual's power.

Cohen also addressed the potential political entry of Ofer Winter, a former IDF general, suggesting that while Winter is a worthy individual and a brave fighter, the public has suffered from generals entering politics. He expressed concern that Winter's endorsement of Netanyahu, if coerced, could cause anxiety among the public.

Regarding a national unity government, Cohen indicated openness to supporting a government that upholds the current administration's principles, stating he has no issue with anyone who does not support terrorism. He noted that many individuals, including Benny Gantz, have changed since October 7th, though he still has reservations about Gantz's past actions.

When asked about his future aspirations, Cohen, who comes from a security background, did not rule out serving as the Minister of National Security. He expressed a desire to continue his work in a role where he can influence the future of Israeli children and serve the nation in both good and difficult times.
