Rachmas Yeshiva Opens Elul Term with Record 900 Students and New Beitar Illit Branch

The Rachmas Yeshiva, led by Rabbi Yitzchak Sofer, inaugurated the Elul term with a record enrollment of approximately 900 Sephardic students at its main campus. This marks a significant growth, especially in the first-year class, which now includes about 180 new students divided into four groups, each supervised by a dedicated instructor responsible for their learning and yeshiva life.

In addition to the main campus, a new branch opened this year in Beitar Illit under the leadership of Rabbi Yehuda Sofer, the yeshiva head's brother. This branch welcomed around 50 first-year students and about 100 others from the main yeshiva, bringing the total student body across both locations to roughly 1,050.

Alongside this expansion, the yeshiva invested heavily in improving dormitory conditions, installing new air conditioning and lighting systems, and refurbishing bathrooms and showers on every dormitory floor to enhance student comfort, particularly for newcomers. These upgrades aim to provide optimal conditions for Torah study and spiritual work without external distractions.

At the Elul term opening, Rabbi Yitzchak Sofer delivered a Talmudic lecture on the tractate Bava Batra, focusing on the topic of "partners who wished to divide," initiating the new study cycle. Following evening prayers, he gave a special ethical discourse emphasizing the sanctity of the Elul days and the great responsibility of Torah students during this period. He encouraged students to use these days of mercy and forgiveness to strengthen their Torah learning, fear of Heaven, and divine service, citing the verse "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine."

The yeshiva expressed great satisfaction with the impressive start to the Elul term and wished all students success in their Torah studies and spiritual growth throughout the year.
