Clashes Erupt Between Israelis and Arabs in Binyamin; Netanyahu Condemns Violence

On Saturday, violent clashes broke out between Israelis and Arabs near the villages of Kusra and Jalud in the Binyamin region. The confrontation began when a group of Israelis on a tour claimed they were attacked with stones and clubs by dozens of Arabs from Kusra. Stone-throwing ensued from both sides, escalating tensions. Later, dozens of Israelis arrived at a house in Kusra where Arabs were present, leading to further confrontations. Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and Border Police intervened, separating the groups and removing the Israelis from the house to restore order.

The Binyamin Regional Council reported that the violence started after the initial attack on the Israeli group. Video footage from the scene showed Arabs throwing stones at Israelis, with foreign journalists documenting the events. Security forces confiscated three vehicles and quickly ended the clashes. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sharply condemned the violent acts, calling them "heinous" and emphasizing that they harm Israel's standing worldwide. He stated that the IDF, Shin Bet, and police are conducting an intensive investigation and vowed that law enforcement will apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators swiftly.

President Isaac Herzog also issued a strong condemnation, describing the incidents as a "crossing of a red line" by lawbreakers acting against Israel's laws and values. He praised the IDF's efforts and urged the government, security agencies, and judicial systems to act decisively to eradicate such violence. The Binyamin Regional Council echoed calls for thorough investigations and legal action against those documented throwing stones.
