Four Admit Arson of Jewish Rescue Ambulances in North London Attack

Four young men pleaded guilty in a London court to arson charges for setting fire to four ambulances belonging to the Jewish emergency organization Hatzalah in Golders Green, North London. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of March 23 and caused approximately one million pounds in damage, also affecting nearby apartments and a synagogue due to explosions from gas canisters inside the vehicles. The defendants are Hamza Iqbal (20), Rahan Khan (19), Judex Atchatchi (18), and Saif Ali, whose name was released after he turned 18 in June. According to the indictment, Ali provided the Toyota car used to transport the group from East London, while the other three carried out the arson, with Ali waiting in the vehicle. Although the counterterrorism unit arrested the suspects, the event was not officially classified as terrorism. Prosecutor Emma Harvey noted significant evidence suggesting the attack was a planned assault on the Jewish community, despite the defense claiming the exact motive is unclear. Additionally, a group linked to Iran claimed responsibility for the attack. The four remain in custody pending sentencing.
