Ofer Yanai Sells 20% Stake in Hapoel Tel Aviv for $50 Million
Ofer Yanai, a key owner of Hapoel Tel Aviv, announced on August 28, 2026, that he sold an additional 20% of his stake in the club, reducing his ownership to 40%. This transaction is part of a broader ownership restructuring involving Yanai Sport, which holds 81% of Adom Management Basket, the entity managing Hapoel Tel Aviv. The remaining 19% belongs to the Osishkin Association.
Previously, Yanai owned 60% of Yanai Sport, with Gili Ra'anan holding 10%, and Mickey Malka and Alan Howard sharing the remaining 30% equally. Following the sale, Ra'anan, Malka, and Howard each hold 20%, while Yanai retains 40%. This shift also increases their involvement in the club's management and decision-making, reflecting a more diversified ownership structure.
Yanai received $50 million for the 20% stake sale, valuing Yanai Sport at approximately $250 million. Given Yanai Sport's 81% ownership of Hapoel Tel Aviv, the club's total estimated value stands at about $308 million, or roughly 916 million Israeli shekels based on the current exchange rate of 2.97 shekels per dollar.
