Netanyahu Sends Condolences to Family of Fallen Soldier Ohad Yaari
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent a condolence letter to the Yaari family after the death of Sgt. Ohad Yaari in Lebanon. Netanyahu said the whole country shares the family’s pain and stands with them in mutual responsibility, which he called a basic element of national existence.
In the letter, Netanyahu said Yaari served as a combat soldier in the Givati Brigade and went into battle in southern Lebanon to help secure the safety of Israeli residents. He said he had looked at a photo of Yaari in IDF uniform and learned about the education he received at home to love the people and the state, as well as the Torah study he absorbed at the Maalot yeshiva and the sense of mission that guided his life.
Netanyahu described Yaari as combining determination and willpower, faith in the justice of his path, a drive for excellence, kindness, generosity toward others, and “charming humility.” He added that Yaari’s noble spirit came from the nobility of his family and said, “We have all been impressed by this in recent days.”
He closed with a personal message to the family members, דוד and נעמה, משה, אמתי and דביר, saying that the memory of “the wonderful Ohad, one of the finest sons of the city of Rehovot,” will remain with the nation forever.
