Giraffe Dadi Celebrates 10th Birthday with Special Enrichment at Ramat Gan Safari

Dadi, the giraffe at Ramat Gan Safari, celebrated his 10th birthday on August 26, 2026. Born at the safari in 2016 to his mother Dikla, Dadi stood out from birth due to his height of about 1.90 meters. Shortly after his birth, the public was invited to help choose his name, with "Dadi" selected from thousands of suggestions.

To mark the milestone, the elephant and giraffe care teams prepared a special enrichment setup for Dadi. This enrichment, hung at varying heights, invited him to explore and enjoy his food in a way that mimics natural feeding behaviors. In the wild, giraffes feed at different heights from the ground to tree canopies, and this installation encourages Dadi and his companions to use their muscles diversely while receiving attention from their caretakers.

The enrichment not only made Dadi's birthday festive but also supports his physical and mental well-being, reflecting the safari's commitment to animal care and engagement.
