Defense Minister Katz Orders Immediate Revocation of Rights for Dismissed Military Advocate Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi

Katz emphasized the need for swift action due to the severity of the allegations against Tomer-Yerushalmi, who is accused of serious criminal offenses including fabricating false accusations against IDF soldiers to protect Palestinian militants. Katz described her offenses as among the most severe in IDF history, given her role as head of the military law enforcement system at the time and the damaging message her actions send to soldiers' families.

Katz also referenced recent legal developments concerning soldiers from Unit 100, noting that the cancellation of their trial by the succeeding Chief Military Advocate was a necessary step but insufficient on its own. He criticized the slow pace of the civilian judicial system in advancing charges against Tomer-Yerushalmi, which delays further punitive measures such as imprisonment or rank revocation. Katz directed the military to use all available tools to proceed within the military framework and warned against any leniency before the criminal process is fully completed, underscoring his authority as Defense Minister overseeing the IDF on behalf of the Israeli government.
