Finance Ministry Halts Payments to Dismissed Military Advocate Despite IDF Chief's Order

Michal Abadi-Boiangiu, the Accountant General at Israel's Finance Ministry, has blocked the payment decision made by IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir regarding severance payments to dismissed Military Advocate Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi. This move was reported by ynet. Tomer-Yerushalmi's civilian attorney protested to the IDF over the withholding of substantial sums.

According to legal professionals within the Finance Ministry and the Justice Ministry, the Chief of Staff's decision granted Tomer-Yerushalmi unusually generous and unreasonable terms, especially given the unresolved status of the ongoing criminal proceedings against her. Lieutenant General Zamir expressed strong displeasure over the freezing of his decision and sent a letter to the Accountant General emphasizing that the authority to decide on this matter rests with him. Despite his protest, the Finance Ministry has maintained its position to withhold the payments.
