Amith Gal's Side Scores Victory as Beit HaBayta Representatives Fail to Join Orion Board
In the initial vote count at Orion's shareholders meeting, Yuvav Carmi and Ariel Perstman, owners and managers of Beit HaBayta Living, did not secure enough votes to join Orion's board of directors. Both candidates required a majority of 51% of votes cast but apparently fell short as the vote tally neared completion. Similarly, Yossi Zeituni and Yishai Sasson, candidates also backed by the investment group Mor and Beit HaBayta Living, failed to gain board seats. Mor holds an 18% stake in Orion, a company owning three assets in Poland, which was spun off from GTC by controlling shareholder Haim Katzman to reduce the company's leverage. Katzman's move sparked controversy in the market, with Orion's share price dropping about 35% since its market debut. The Capital Market Authority, led by Amith Gal, opposed the candidacies of Perstman and Carmi, accusing Mor of overstepping its role and interfering in company management. According to the vote results, Eran Yaakov, former head of the Tax Authority, will remain Orion's chairman. He is supported by Katzman, along with board member Keren Kalifa, incoming CEO of GTC.
