Givati Brigade Soldiers Refuse Gaza Mission Over Female Paramedic Presence

Soldiers from the Rotem Battalion of the Givati Brigade refused to carry out an operational mission in the Gaza Strip due to the presence of a female paramedic in their armored personnel carrier (APC). The incident occurred during a night operation between Tuesday and Wednesday, when the unit was tasked with conducting a patrol inside the APC. The soldiers declined to proceed because the paramedic was part of the crew, leading to the cancellation of the mission.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson confirmed the refusal and stated that the event is under investigation. According to the IDF, the refusal was based on the soldiers' adherence to religious lifestyle considerations, which allow for operational activities to be conducted in gender-segregated settings except in exceptional cases. The IDF emphasized that appropriate command measures will be taken following the investigation's findings.
