Israeli Police Conduct Search in Acre Home, Family Alleges Property Damage and Procedural Issues

On August 25, police executed a search warrant at the residence of Ihab Mansour in Acre's Old City around 9:50 a.m. At the time, Mansour and other family members were not present, but his approximately 80-year-old mother, who does not speak Hebrew, was brought from a nearby home to witness the search. According to the family, the police did not present the search warrant or explain its contents to her.

The family claims the two-story home was left in disarray, with belongings displaced and significant property damage, including to the room of a seven-year-old child living there. Security cameras installed in the house were reportedly torn down, damaging the surveillance system. The search concluded without any arrests or seizures.

Attorney Lior Davidi, representing Mansour and his mother, condemned the police conduct, stating that the search caused "destruction throughout the house without any justified reason." He criticized the use of Mansour's elderly mother as the sole witness without proper explanation and highlighted that despite Mansour's criminal record, such treatment by law enforcement is unacceptable.

The police responded that the search was conducted lawfully under a court-signed warrant related to an ongoing investigation into alleged criminal offenses. They asserted that the warrant was presented and explained thoroughly, and that an eyewitness was present throughout the process. Mansour's family has filed a complaint with the police's public complaints unit regarding the incident.
