Degel HaTorah and Agudat Yisrael Begin Talks on Joint Election Run
The ultra-Orthodox political factions Degel HaTorah and Agudat Yisrael are initiating negotiations ahead of the upcoming elections. On Wednesday evening, the two parties will hold their first formal meeting to discuss forming a joint electoral list. This meeting marks the start of a series of talks aimed at reaching agreements on seat allocation and the structure of their combined run.
Representing Agudat Yisrael will be delegates from its two constituent groups. Israel Dranger will replace Hanoch Zeibert in the negotiation team for the Gur faction, while Member of Knesset Meir Porush will represent Shlomei Emunim and Belz. Degel HaTorah will be represented by faction secretary Moshe Shifman and Menachem Shapira.
The discussions will also cover decision-making mechanisms and other political and organizational issues related to the joint run. The outcome will determine how the combined list is formed and how the seats will be divided between the two parties.
