Likud Orders Recount of Ballots in Be'er Ya'akov After Voting Irregularities

The Likud party announced a recount of votes at the Be'er Ya'akov polling station following irregularities detected in the 2026 primaries. The decision, made by the party's election committee headed by retired judge Menachem Naaman, came after it was found that 240 valid votes were cast, but candidate Shashi Guetta was recorded as receiving 260 votes, exceeding the total valid ballots by 20. Candidate Gila Gamliel reportedly received 240 votes according to the data.

The recount follows complaints about discrepancies and alleged irregularities during the primaries, as well as a petition by Gamliel to the Likud court requesting either a halt to the recount or a full review of all suspicious polling stations. The court did not stop the recount but expressed discomfort over the unresolved results even eight days after the election.

Likud stated that the recount would be incorporated into the final results after the appeals process concludes on Thursday. The party emphasized adherence to the court's and election committee's guidelines to ensure election integrity. Meanwhile, Gamliel's team announced plans to file a police complaint against the election committee chairman and the party's election committee for serious violations of party funding and election laws, citing what they described as blatant fraud at the polling stations in question.
