Hind Rajab Foundation Seeks US Legal Action Against Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Arieh King

The Hind Rajab Foundation has filed a request with the U.S. Department of Justice to initiate criminal proceedings against Arieh King, Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem, ahead of his planned visit to the United States on August 31, 2026. The foundation alleges King’s involvement in the unlawful transfer of Palestinians from East Jerusalem neighborhoods and accuses him of incitement to genocide. These claims are based on his public activities and his role as founder of the Israel Land Fund, which the foundation says promotes Jewish settlement in areas like Sheikh Jarrah and Silwan, displacing Palestinian residents.

The foundation’s submission includes references to King’s statements over the years concerning Gaza and UNRWA, which it argues amount to incitement under U.S. law. It demands that the U.S. Justice Department investigate and prosecute him. These allegations have not yet been reviewed or accepted by American authorities.

This legal move is part of a broader international campaign by the Hind Rajab Foundation targeting Israeli military personnel and officials. Over recent years, the foundation has filed multiple complaints and arrest requests in various countries, often based on social media evidence. However, most have not resulted in formal legal actions. In June 2026, the foundation also petitioned the U.S. Justice Department to open proceedings against Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir during his planned U.S. visit.
