Iran Dismisses Trump’s Sanctions Threats, Claims Global Distrust in US

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf sharply rejected the United States’ recent threats amid new sanctions imposed by the Trump administration, which Washington dubbed an "economic D-Day." Ghalibaf stated that no one believes the US boasts and that America is not in an economic position to further reduce its international relations. He added that Iran’s trade partners have communicated, both publicly and privately, their disregard for American statements.

Iranian Finance Minister Ali Madanizadeh also denied the impact of the sanctions, announcing that Tehran has prepared comprehensive measures to counter US pressure. He asserted that the American sanctions will fail to sever the vital arteries of Iran’s economy, just as previous sanctions did not succeed.

These Iranian responses come in the wake of unprecedented US economic sanctions targeting approximately 60 entities, individuals, and vessels linked to Iran. US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin revealed that the sanctions focus on five key sectors: digital assets, technology, gold, aviation, and shipping, aiming to intensify economic pressure on Tehran.
