Iran Rejects US Economic Threats as Netanyahu Praises Trump’s Sanctions Move

Following the United States' announcement of additional economic sanctions against Tehran, Iranian Finance Minister Ali Madanizadeh asserted that Iran has prepared measures to withstand the pressures and that US sanctions will fail to sever the country’s economic lifelines, just as they have in the past. He acknowledged that the war has impacted steel factories and the economy but emphasized that Iran is resilient and defends itself, while Washington cannot achieve its goals through economic harm.

An Iranian government spokesperson also acknowledged economic difficulties but stressed that Iran will overcome the pressures wisely and maintain unity. Meanwhile, Iranian parliament member Ebrahim Razai posted on X that the US "economic wrath" campaign signals a failure of military efforts and confidently predicted that the US will be defeated again. A senior Iranian intelligence official criticized Washington, claiming President Donald Trump’s economic pressure strategy relies on psychological warfare to increase stress on the Iranian people, compensating for battlefield failures.

On the other side, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked President Trump for the threat of further sanctions against Iran. Netanyahu wrote on X in English that the US is rightly exacting a heavy price from the cruel dictatorship and those supporting its ongoing aggression.

The US has launched a broad economic campaign called "Economic Isolation Operation" aimed at cutting off all Iran’s income sources to force it into negotiations to end the conflict. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant demanded that countries cease all trade with Tehran and warned that violators would face severe American sanctions. He stated that the US is tightening controls and enforcing a naval blockade to prevent oil exports, with Trump personally urging world leaders to sever trade ties. Bessant emphasized that any economic connection with the murderous regime would expose responsible parties to the full force of US power. When asked about a deadline for implementing the threat, he said US patience is "not unlimited" and warned that enforcing the sanctions could "explode the financial system."
