Netanyahu and Defense Minister Report Historic Drop in West Bank Terror Attacks

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz held a security briefing at the Central Command to assess the security challenges in the West Bank. The meeting included top officials such as the IDF Chief of Staff, National Security Advisor, Central Command Commander, heads of military intelligence and the General Staff, and the Judea and Samaria Division commander.

Defense Minister Katz summarized the situation, highlighting a significant decline in Palestinian terror attacks in the West Bank for the second consecutive year, reaching unprecedented low levels. He praised the IDF commanders, soldiers, and the Shin Bet for their courageous and dedicated efforts in executing the government's offensive counterterrorism policy.

Katz specifically noted the directive to evacuate refugee camps in northern Samaria, demolish terror infrastructure, and maintain a permanent IDF presence in these camps. This strategy has severely impaired terror capabilities and contributed substantially to the dramatic reduction in attacks.

The briefing underscored the ongoing challenges posed by security threats alongside a dramatic increase in Israeli settlement activity in the region. The government continues to prioritize counterterrorism operations to maintain stability and security in the West Bank.
