Singer Omer Adam to Hold Gender-Separated Wedding Ceremony in Italy Due to Moti Steinmetz's Conditions

Israeli singer Omer Adam is set to marry his partner Sasha Israelovitz in a lavish wedding this weekend in Italy, featuring a surprising full gender separation during the ceremony. This arrangement stems from the participation of Hasidic singer Moti Steinmetz, who will officiate the chuppah and kiddushin and requires strict gender segregation at all events where he performs. According to reports from Pplus on Monday, Steinmetz's condition is non-negotiable and central to his contract. Previously, he even canceled his participation at a wedding abroad that did not observe gender separation.

Adam chose Steinmetz due to his admiration for the Hasidic singer's music and their prior acquaintance. The wedding will take place on Thursday, August 27, at a 14th-century former Christian monastery converted into a luxury event venue near Portofino. Alongside Steinmetz, the event will feature an ethnic band, an international DJ, and a special concert by Israeli DJ Amit Agami with conductor Meir Briskman and a classical musicians' orchestra.

The couple's guests will fly privately to Milan on Tuesday morning, then proceed to Portofino for a welcome party that evening. The wedding day will be split into two parts with a strict dress code of elegant gowns and suits. After the ceremony, the couple plans to observe the traditional groom's Sabbath in Italy. Since Portofino lacks a local Jewish community, they may relocate to nearby Genoa, which has active synagogues.

The wedding venue rental costs approximately 30,000 euros, with additional fees for extra hours. Adam's choice of Steinmetz and acceptance of his conditions reflect his recent shift toward a more traditional lifestyle; he has observed Shabbat for two years, as he revealed in a 2025 interview. The event will be relatively intimate, limited to close family and friends, with strict confidentiality agreements signed by all service providers to prevent leaks from the celebrations. Steinmetz's participation, including travel and stay in Italy, is estimated to cost around $20,000.
