Summer 2026 Becoming One of Deadliest in Recent Years on Israeli Roads

Before the end of August, 2026 is already shaping up as one of the deadliest summers on Israeli roads in the past decade. According to data from the Or Yarok Association, based on Central Bureau of Statistics figures, 105 people have died in road accidents during June, July, and August so far. This follows the summer of 2025, which was the deadliest in the last decade with 117 fatalities, marking a 9% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

In total, 3,454 people were injured in road accidents during the summer of 2025, including 702 with serious injuries. Urban roads have also seen a significant deterioration in safety. In the summer of 2025, 45 people died in city road accidents compared to 36 in 2024, a 25% rise. During that period, 1,822 people were injured in urban road accidents, with 406 sustaining serious injuries.

Specific cities reported notable figures: in Tel Aviv-Yafo, 209 people were injured in road accidents during summer 2025, including 7 fatalities and 55 serious injuries. Jerusalem saw 150 injured, with 6 deaths and 42 serious injuries, while Haifa reported 165 injuries, including one death and 24 serious injuries.
