Israel Basketball Team Falls 101-90 to Georgia in Final Pre-Mondobasket Warm-Up

The Israeli national basketball team suffered a 101-90 defeat against Georgia in their last preparatory game ahead of the August Mondobasket tournament. Israel started strong, leading 25-17 after the first quarter, with key contributions from Roman Sorkin and Kadin Carrington. However, Georgia fought back in the second quarter, using their physicality to take a narrow 43-41 halftime lead.

The second half remained close and competitive, with players Adam Ariel, Tamir Blatt, and Yam Madar exchanging leads with the Georgian team. Israel held a slight advantage of 69-68 at the end of the third quarter. In the final minutes, Israel briefly led 87-86, thanks to points from Madar and three-pointers by Carrington and Rafi Menco. Nevertheless, Georgia dominated the closing moments with a decisive 15-3 run to secure the win.

Israel shot 35% from beyond the arc but struggled significantly under the basket, allowing Georgia to convert 69% of their two-point attempts. Top scorers for Israel included Roman Sorkin with 25 points, Yam Madar with 16 points and 8 assists, and Adam Ariel with 15 points. The team is set to travel to Latvia on Tuesday to face Poland on Thursday and Latvia on Sunday in official Mondobasket matches.
