Kids Make Colorful Frozen Yogurt and Fruit Treats at Home This Summer
During the summer break, when children have free time at home, preparing a dessert can become a fun family activity. A frozen yogurt and fruit treat, affectionately called "fruit clouds" by kids, offers a creative and refreshing snack that children can mostly prepare on their own. The concept is simple: a sweet yogurt base decorated with colorful fruits and toppings, frozen and then broken into large pieces for easy snacking.
The preparation requires just two cups of yogurt, Greek, vanilla, or any preferred flavor, mixed with a spoon or two of honey or maple syrup for sweetness. Children then decorate the yogurt spread with chopped fruits such as strawberries, bananas, grapes, and blueberries, along with optional additions like chocolate chips, granola, or crushed biscuits. The mixture is spread evenly on parchment paper placed on a flat tray and frozen for two to three hours.
Once frozen, the yogurt sheet is broken into "cloud pieces" and eaten directly from the freezer. This dessert is healthy due to its fresh fruit and yogurt content, refreshing for hot summer days, and encourages children to actively participate in making their own snacks. It requires no oven or complicated ingredients, making it accessible for various ages and easy to prepare with common household items.
Families can prepare multiple trays at once and store the pieces in a sealed container in the freezer, ensuring a ready supply of a tasty and nutritious treat throughout the summer.
