Shomron Regional Council Launches First Religious Technological High School for Girls in Havat Yair
The Shomron Regional Council will open a new religious technological high school for girls in grades 9 through 12 at Havat Yair starting the upcoming school year. Initially, the school will operate in temporary facilities before moving to permanent buildings at Havat Yair. The school will be managed by the Amit network, which won the council's tender, with Zehava Tamir appointed as the principal. Tamir brings extensive experience in education, including work with at-risk youth and leadership in programs for healthy sexuality and risk prevention.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Shomron Regional Council to expand and diversify educational options tailored to the needs of its youth. The new high school aims to provide an alternative to traditional ulpana frameworks, focusing on personal strengths, empowerment, and open dialogue with students. It will offer personalized support, community connection, and a nurturing social and emotional environment.
Yossi Dagan, head of the Shomron Regional Council, emphasized the importance of education in the region and the need for diverse frameworks to help every girl find a place to thrive. He praised the Amit network and principal Tamir, expressing confidence that the school will become a significant educational home for girls in Shomron. Dagan also acknowledged the contributions of Deputy Council Head David Ben-Zion, Education Department Director Tal Navoni, and Amit's CEO Dr. Amnon Alder, who affirmed their commitment to realizing the council's vision on the ground.
