Former Intelligence Officer Warns Mansour Abbas Could Access State Secrets in Future Israeli Coalition

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Marco Moreno, a former senior intelligence officer in Unit 504, issued a stark warning about the potential inclusion of the Ra'am party and its leader Mansour Abbas in a future Israeli coalition government. In an interview on the "We Are the Majority" program on Galei Yisrael radio, Moreno criticized the left-wing media for what he called a whitewashing campaign of Abbas, describing him as a member of the Muslim Brotherhood who struggles to label Hamas as a terrorist organization, instead viewing it as a nationalist or liberation group.

Moreno emphasized the political necessity for the left-wing bloc to rely on Arab party votes but highlighted the severe security risks involved. He warned that if Abbas and his non-Zionist party join the next government, they could gain access to sensitive intelligence, including information on targeted killings, by sitting in the security cabinet. Moreno questioned how the Israeli security establishment could operate effectively under such conditions, suggesting that even routine operations would be scrutinized through the lens of the Muslim Brotherhood.

The interview also referenced opposition voices like Ofer Kasif and demands from figures such as Segalovitch regarding Ra'am's participation, underscoring concerns about intelligence exposure.
