Israeli Police Arrest Two Teens for Beating Disabled Palestinian and Sharing Video Online

Israeli police from the Judea and Samaria district arrested two Jewish teenagers on suspicion of attacking an elderly Palestinian man who uses crutches. The incident, which occurred on a Saturday, was recorded and widely shared on social media platforms both in Israel and internationally, including Turkish media, Al Jazeera, and Al Arabiya. The footage shows one of the suspects striking the man on his back with a metal rod while the other filmed the assault on a mobile phone.

The suspects, residents of the West Bank, were located and detained following an investigation by the Hebron police station. Authorities also seized a vehicle allegedly used by the suspects, noting it was driven without a license. The 16-year-old attacker from the settlement of Avigail was remanded in custody and is expected to appear in court later the same day. His 17-year-old accomplice from Jerusalem was placed under house arrest with restrictive conditions. The police investigation is ongoing.

This attack comes amid continued violent clashes in the West Bank. Recently, Israeli forces responded to reports of Jewish rioters setting fire to heavy equipment and spray-painting graffiti in the South Hebron Hills near Susya. No arrests were made in that incident. The military condemned the arson and vandalism and called on law enforcement to hold the perpetrators accountable.

Following these events, a group of Israelis entered the Palestinian village of Sa'ir in the Gush Etzion area without coordination or approval, leading to stone-throwing by Palestinians. An Israeli security officer shot and killed a 17-year-old Palestinian and injured others. Subsequently, the Israelis set fire to a building in the village. Israeli forces arrived at the scene, and three Palestinian residents were detained for questioning. These incidents highlight ongoing tensions and violence in the region.
