Israeli Yeshiva Student Slightly Injured in Severe Car Crash Near Crown Heights Chabad Center

A serious car accident occurred over the weekend in the heart of Crown Heights, Brooklyn, near the global Chabad headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway. The collision involved a red pickup truck and a black SUV, which crashed violently at the intersection of Brooklyn Avenue and Eastern Parkway, an area known for heavy pedestrian and yeshiva student traffic. The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles, with the SUV’s front bumper completely crushed and the pickup’s front wheel torn off.

Emergency responders, including local Hatzalah volunteers and EMS medical teams, quickly arrived at the scene to provide first aid. Police and fire department units secured the area, managed traffic, and controlled a large crowd of bystanders. Two people were injured and transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Among the injured was an Israeli yeshiva student studying in the "Kibbutz" program at 770, which primarily consists of graduates from Israeli Chabad yeshivas spending a study year in New York. Fortunately, his injuries were classified as minor, with no complex trauma reported. This incident coincides with the return of thousands of yeshiva students to Crown Heights for the new academic year and the Jewish month of Tishrei, a period that typically sees increased traffic congestion.
