Ultra-Orthodox Extremists Protest Against MK Malkieli After Rabbi Yosef's Lecture

On Saturday night, following the weekly lecture by Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef at the Yizdim synagogue in Jerusalem, dozens of extremist activists from the 'Jerusalem Faction' gathered to protest against MK Michael Malkieli and other Shas party members present. The protest erupted as a result of Shas representatives attending the lecture and Selichot prayers, an action previously avoided due to internal party tensions. The extremists shouted harsh slogans targeting Malkieli, expressing their anger over the participation of Shas lawmakers. To counter the disturbance and support Rabbi Yosef, his students and supporters sang "Yamim Al Yemei Melech" as he exited the lecture.

The Shas party strongly condemned the incident, labeling the protesters as a marginal extremist and anarchist group harming the ultra-Orthodox community and Torah world. They accused the group of collaborating with left-wing organizations to undermine the right-wing and traditionalist bloc. Shas emphasized that no thug would intimidate their MKs or divert the party from its path of unity, Torah, and love for Israel.
