Three Toddlers Hospitalized After Ingesting Large Amount of Medication in Beit Shemesh
On the morning of August 17, 2026, emergency medical teams from Magen David Adom and Torani Shabbat were dispatched to Beit Shemesh following reports that three toddler sisters, aged one, two, and three, had ingested a large quantity of medication. Paramedics Nati Ben Shimon, Kobi Marder, and Yehoshua Gottlieb arrived to find the children with impaired consciousness. They provided initial medical treatment and transported the toddlers in stable condition to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem for further care.
The rescue organization "Tzevet Hatzalah" reiterated the importance of parents keeping medications and hazardous substances out of children's reach to prevent such incidents. Earlier in the week, a separate tragic event occurred in Beit Shemesh where a four-year-old boy was fatally struck by a vehicle. Despite prolonged resuscitation efforts by Magen David Adom paramedics Avitar Yamin, Roy Ben Shoham, and Yehoshua Gottlieb, the child was pronounced dead at the scene.
These incidents highlight ongoing safety concerns for children in the area, prompting renewed calls for vigilance in securing dangerous items and ensuring child safety near traffic.
