Three Balloons from Gaza Detected Over Israeli Border Area Within 24 Hours
Within less than a day, three balloons originating from the Gaza Strip were detected over Israeli territory near the Gaza border, raising concerns among Israeli security forces and local communities. One balloon was spotted yesterday over Kibbutz Be'eri but was not immediately located, while two additional balloons were found this morning near the same area. Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) troops serving in the Gaza Division were informed by Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council head Uri Epstein about the initial sighting. The IDF dispatched forces to collect the suspicious balloon near Kibbutz Be'eri.
Soldiers emphasized the importance of sharing such information widely among troops, warning that future balloons could be incendiary, similar to those used in the balloon terror attacks before October 7. They stressed the need for a firm response to this recurring phenomenon, noting that in recent weeks multiple balloons have crossed from Gaza into Israeli territory. "At first, it’s just one balloon, then another, and eventually the exception becomes the norm," they said.
The IDF confirmed that no suspicious materials were found on the balloons and that no danger to the public was posed. The military continues to maintain close communication with local communities. Meanwhile, the "Future for the Gaza Envelope" movement called on the security establishment to urgently halt this activity, urging investigations into the balloons’ origins, purposes, and connections between recent incidents. They warned against complacency, stating that after October 7, Israel must not allow such incidents to become routine.
