Survey Shows Benny Gantz Trusted More Than Netanyahu Across Key Issues
A recent "Ulpan Shishi" poll conducted on August 20, 2026, reveals that Benny Gantz enjoys significantly higher public trust than Benjamin Netanyahu on multiple critical issues ahead of the upcoming Israeli elections. Approximately 60% of respondents prefer a prime ministerial candidate other than Netanyahu, with only 34% viewing Netanyahu as the most suitable leader. Among undecided voters, 52% favor any candidate other than Netanyahu.
The poll assessed public confidence in Netanyahu, Gantz, and Naftali Bennett on security, economy, education, democracy, and future leadership. Gantz scored highest in all categories, including security (5.8 vs. Netanyahu's 4.8), economy and cost of living (5.1 vs. 3.7), education (5.3 vs. 3.7), democracy (6.0 vs. 4.3), and leading Israel toward a better future (5.7 vs. 4.3). Bennett's ratings were generally between Netanyahu's and Gantz's.
Regarding political dynamics, 49% of the public would vote for parties opposing Netanyahu, while 35% support the current coalition. Notably, 60% of coalition voters oppose reserving a Knesset slot for Netanyahu's son, Yair, on the Likud list.
The survey also explored attitudes toward Israel's identity. A strong majority (79%) support Israel as the national home of the Jewish people, and 75% endorse liberal values of equal social and political rights. Among Arab party voters, nearly half (46%) do not explicitly oppose Israel's Jewish character, with 24% supporting it and 22% undecided.
The poll was conducted online by Meno Geva's Consulting and Research, sampling 504 respondents aged 18 and over, with a margin of error of ±4.4%.
