Haredi Hikers Attacked by Arab Mob in East Gush Etzion, Terrorist Killed in Self-Defense

A group of Haredi hikers was brutally attacked by dozens of Arab assailants from the village of Sa'ir in eastern Gush Etzion, located in the West Bank, on Friday. The attackers aimed to lynch the civilians, forcing the hikers to urgently call security forces and emergency responders for help. The regional security officer (Ravshatz), who was the first to arrive at the scene, encountered the violent mob while attempting to rescue the hikers. During the rescue efforts, the Ravshatz was struck at close range with a rock by one of the attackers and responded with defensive gunfire, killing one assailant.

Arab media identified the killed attacker as Karim Shalalda, a resident of the nearby Arab outpost of Hamroush. Shalalda had previously participated in an attack against Jewish shepherds a month earlier, throwing stones while masked and armed with a club, injuring two. Despite the arrest of three of his relatives, Shalalda himself was not detained. The attackers reportedly originated from a house known as a center for assaults against Jews, where a woman was recently arrested for setting fires in open areas.

The incident highlights ongoing tensions and violent confrontations in the Gush Etzion area. Security forces continue to monitor the situation as investigations proceed.
