Israeli Couple Overcomes 11 Years of Fertility Struggles to Welcome Twin Boys
Sarrit Avrahami-Tadmor, 51, a personal assistant to a CEO, and Dekel Tadmor, 44, a test drive manager at a car importer, have been together for 13 years and recently became parents to twin boys, Adi and Idan, aged two years and four months. The couple lives in Holon, Israel. Sarrit shared that at age 38, feeling lonely as friends were married with children, she prayed at the Western Wall for a relationship and children. A week later, she began dating Dekel, whom she met at work where they both were employed at Eldan car company. Their first date was eventful, as they were robbed on the beach in Tel Aviv, but Dekel ensured Sarrit got home safely. They quickly grew close, moving in together within a month and meeting each other's families.
After several years, Dekel proposed during a couples massage, and they began trying to conceive. Despite normal medical tests, Sarrit faced repeated pregnancy losses and underwent 20 rounds of IVF over 11 years, including egg donation. She experienced five pregnancies, three with her own eggs and two with donor eggs, but none resulted in a live birth. After a difficult pregnancy that ended with a loss and damaged fertility, doctors recommended surrogacy. The couple chose an egg donor from Ukraine and a surrogate from Georgia, initially opting for no contact with the surrogate but later meeting her during pregnancy.
The surrogate gave birth to twins, and the couple flew to Georgia at short notice to be present. Eldan, their employer, generously funded the surrogacy process, covering approximately 350,000 shekels. Sarrit described the joy and life change the twins brought, transforming their previously quiet home into a lively family. Dekel expressed deep happiness and fulfillment in becoming a father, calling it the peak of his emotions despite the challenges they faced.
Their story highlights perseverance through medical and emotional hardships, the support of their workplace, and the eventual realization of their dream to become parents through surrogacy.
