Court Drops Gilad Peretz Defamation Suit Against Alaia Hof Over Missing Security Deposit

A defamation lawsuit filed by former Big Brother contestant Gilad Peretz against fellow contestant Alaia Hof was dismissed before it could move forward, after Peretz failed to deposit a court-ordered NIS 10,000 security payment. The suit, filed for NIS 200,000, was dropped by the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court.

Hof had asked the court to require the deposit, arguing that Peretz’s center of life is in the United States and that the money was needed to ensure she could recover legal costs if he lost. Judge Nurit Tabib Mizrahi accepted the request and gave Peretz 30 days to pay. When he did not, she ordered the case closed and the claim deleted.

Peretz, represented by attorney Mital Harush Masino, had sued Hof for defamation and damages, claiming she had libeled him during and after the show. Both appeared in the 2025 season of Big Brother, where they were involved in several controversies. One of them concerned public discussion of Hof’s gender transition process, and their relationship later deteriorated. Peretz was eventually removed from the show after the production said he violated house rules with “unreasonable behavior.”

At the same time, Peretz has another lawsuit pending against the Big Brother production. There too, the production asked the court to require him to post security to continue the case, but no decision has yet been issued. In response to the dismissal of the case against her, Peretz’s lawyer said the team would address the matter in the proper legal forum and would also argue that Hof, or those acting on her behalf, and Endemol Productions and Reshet 13 are effectively trying to block Peretz’s access to court by using repeated security requests and moving filings between his cases, which she called completely bad-faith conduct and a possible obstruction of justice.
