Bereaved Israeli Families Condemn Jared Kushner for Meeting Hamas Leader Khalil al-Hayya
Bereaved families from the Israeli forum "Gevura" have sharply criticized Jared Kushner, senior advisor to former U.S. President Donald Trump, for engaging in negotiations with Khalil al-Hayya, the head of Hamas's political bureau. The families accuse al-Hayya of being responsible for the rape of hundreds of Israeli and American women, as well as the murder and kidnapping of hundreds of Israeli and American children. They condemned Kushner's meetings with Hamas officials amid efforts by the Trump administration to advance a 15-point plan for the Gaza Strip.
The families launched a campaign titled "Fight Terror, Don’t Talk to It," emphasizing that political negotiations cannot be separated from the crimes committed by Hamas and other terror groups in Gaza. They argue that those responsible for atrocities against Israelis and Americans should not be considered legitimate partners in political dialogue.
This protest comes as Kushner visits Israel and as U.S. officials recently met with Hamas leaders in Egypt to promote the peace plan. The bereaved families have also appealed directly to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Security Cabinet, urging an immediate military offensive in Gaza to decisively defeat Hamas. They warn that the current security situation endangers Israeli soldiers and southern residents and accuse Hamas of exploiting Israel’s lack of initiative.
The families’ campaign highlights the heavy price paid by victims of the conflict and insists that Israel’s fight against Hamas must not include negotiations with its senior figures. They call on the government to fulfill its commitment to eliminate the terror organization rather than engage in talks.
