Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef Praises IDF Soldiers as Divine Messengers Protecting Israel
In a heartfelt conversation with Shas party chairman Aryeh Deri, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef expressed strong support and blessings for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers amid ongoing security tensions and the approaching elections. He emphasized the inseparable connection between Torah and the soldiers, stating that the Torah accompanies the IDF and that one cannot exist without the other. Rabbi Yosef conveyed love for the soldiers and all of Israel, praying for their safety and well-being as they defend the nation.
He described the soldiers as "messengers of the Holy One, blessed be He," entrusted with protecting the people of Israel. Rabbi Yosef recalled his father, the late Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, who used to say that anyone who sees a soldier should kiss him because of his sacred role in safeguarding Israel. The rabbi concluded with a prayer for the swift end of hostilities, victory for Israel, and a future of peace without further wars, asking God to grant strength to the soldiers to prevail.
This message comes at a time of heightened security concerns and political preparations for upcoming elections, highlighting the spiritual and national significance attributed to the IDF by religious leadership.
