Strok Honors National Service Volunteers with Disabilities as a Vital Asset to Israel
National Missions and Settlement Minister and National-Civic Service chief Orit Strok attended a tribute event for volunteers with disabilities serving in national-civic service. She said she chose to come to the ceremony even though she had also been invited to a simultaneous signing event for a framework agreement in Karnei Shomron.
Strok praised the volunteers for their determination and willpower, saying they embody values of giving, belonging, and contribution. She told them, "Each of you who builds yourself during service is building something no less important. Anyone who chooses to overcome difficulties and challenges and contribute to society is an enormous asset to the State of Israel."
She concluded by wishing the volunteers well as they continue on their path, saying, "What you learned about yourselves during your service, the ability to give, contribute and be part of something, will stay with you for life."
During the event, Strok thanked Reuven Pinski, the outgoing director general of the National-Civic Service Authority, for leading efforts to integrate additional populations into national service. Pinski, in turn, thanked Strok for the steps she advanced in national service and praised the expansion of positions for service members from special populations within the program.
