Israel Maintains Military Pressure on Hamas Amid Gaza Strikes, Rejects Disarmament Expectations
Amid ongoing Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, a senior Israeli security official stated on Wednesday evening that Israel does not believe Hamas will disarm. Until such a development occurs, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will continue to thwart threats without retreating from its established operational boundaries, and no reconstruction efforts in Gaza will commence.
Israeli security sources confirmed that the targeted killing policy has received a green light from the U.S. administration, granting Israel freedom to act against immediate threats in Gaza. This includes preemptive strikes on militants planning attacks against Israeli forces or members of Hamas' elite Nukhba unit.
In recent days, Israel has conducted multiple strikes in Gaza. On Wednesday, an Nukhba unit commander who infiltrated Israel on October 7 was killed in the Nuseirat refugee camp. Additionally, Hamas militants were targeted at a Hamas police building in Gaza City, resulting in the deaths of several senior Hamas field commanders and the head of Hamas' women's police force. Gaza's Interior Ministry reported nine fatalities in the police station strike.
Hamas condemned the attacks as war crimes and called on mediators, particularly the Trump administration, to take a firm stance against the escalation, enforce ceasefire agreements, and facilitate the completion of the "Roadmap" peace plan. Meanwhile, Hamas has demanded that Jared Kushner ensure the movement's political survival as a condition for future negotiations. Official IDF instructions prohibit pushing the operational line westward in Gaza at this time.
