Popular Ashdod Culinary Venue 'Taste and Understand' Shut Down Over Health Violations

The popular culinary establishment "Taste and Understand" in Ashdod was ordered to close immediately by the Ministry of Health following inspections that revealed serious sanitary violations and unlicensed food production. Inspections conducted on June 3 and June 23 found multiple issues including a freezer operating at 9 degrees Celsius instead of freezing temperatures, lack of documentation for vegetable disinfection, absence of laboratory testing, and missing records for hot and cold food temperature control.

Additionally, the business failed to provide proof that food transportation vehicles were licensed and maintained proper temperature controls during delivery. The establishment also did not submit technical plans for its new facility to obtain prior approval. Although production was temporarily allowed under specific conditions until August 31, the business did not respond with the required documentation by the time the closure order was issued.

The closure order can remain in effect for up to 60 days, with the Ministry of Health authorized to request extensions. The business owner may appeal the order in the Magistrate's Court, but filing an appeal does not delay the closure. The Ministry emphasized the importance of compliance with food safety regulations to protect public health.
