Leading Hasidic Rebbes Mark Elul with Spiritual Gatherings and Celebrations Across Israel and Diaspora
Several prominent Hasidic leaders recently held significant events to mark the beginning of the month of Elul and prepare their communities for the upcoming High Holy Days. The Admor of Tchernobyl opened the Elul period with a strengthening speech to his yeshiva students in Ashdod, followed by blessings and traditional refreshments. Meanwhile, the Satmar Rebbe visited summer camps in the Catskills, laying a cornerstone for a new building and dancing enthusiastically with community leaders.
Thousands of Bobov 45 Hasidim gathered in the Catskills for the opening of the month of mercy and repentance, praying in a large hall and receiving blessings and plums from their Rebbe. The Karlin-Stolin Rebbe spoke out strongly against violence following a recent attack in Jerusalem, praising the Hasidim’s bravery but emphasizing that violence is not the way of the Torah.
Other events included the Nadvorna Rebbe distributing honey and meeting with the mayor of Ramat Beit Shemesh, the Skver Hasidic summer camp recreating an ancient market experience for children, and a bar mitzvah celebration for the grandson of the Shevet Levi Rebbe. The Bobov Rebbe also celebrated a brit milah for his grandson at the Bobov summer camp.
In the United States, the Spinka Rebbe held a large memorial meal for his late father in New Jersey, while the Sanz-Klausenburg Rebbe celebrated a wedding of a close confidant’s granddaughter in Israel. Additionally, the arrival and burial of the late Rabbi Tzvi Zev Berger in Monsey drew large crowds and heartfelt eulogies.
Preparations for the High Holy Days continue with spiritual gatherings, prayers, and community events across Hasidic centers in Israel and the diaspora, emphasizing unity, faith, and renewal during this sacred time.
