Israel Reportedly Strikes Critical Pump at Major Iranian Petrochemical Plant
Israel struck a critical component at Iran’s largest petrochemical plant in an apparent effort to disrupt operations there, according to a report first published by i24NEWS military and security correspondent Yinon Shalom Yach. The report said the target was the pump that moves material through the plant, a central and expensive piece of equipment.
Damage to such a component is not meant only to cause localized harm, but to interrupt the entire production chain at the facility. The strike, the report said, reflects a targeted approach aimed at hitting vital infrastructure within Iran’s industrial network, not only clear military targets.
Because specialized equipment of this kind is difficult to replace, especially under wartime conditions, the attack could keep parts of the plant shut down for an extended period. The publication said the information was released with the approval of security officials.
The report comes amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, after a series of strikes attributed to Israel deep inside Iran and as Tehran seeks to signal that it retains the ability to retaliate and deter further attacks.
