Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Hospital Delivers Three Sets of Triplets in One Month

Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem experienced a rare and remarkable event in its maternity wards, delivering three sets of triplets within a single month. In total, nine babies were born: the first set consisted of three boys, the second of three girls, and the third included one boy and two girls. Notably, in the third birth, the two girls shared a single placenta, a medically uncommon condition.

Dr. Vladimir Plotkin, head of the delivery rooms at Shaare Zedek, expressed pride in the hospital’s status as Israel’s largest birth center, with over 20,000 births annually, attributing success to the dedicated and skilled medical and midwifery teams. Midwife Limor Hekster, who participated in one of the deliveries, described the experience as a profound privilege and highlighted the rarity of three triplet births occurring so close together.

One of the mothers, Talia, who gave birth to the boy and two girls, recounted her challenging journey, including two previous miscarriages and a hospitalization during pregnancy. She emphasized the emotional and spiritual strength she and her family drew upon throughout the process, culminating in the healthy birth of her triplets under the care of Shaare Zedek’s clinics and staff.
