Pro-Israel Candidates Win Big in Florida Republican Primaries Over Anti-Israel Opponents
In the Florida Republican primaries held overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday, candidates who ran on anti-Israel and anti-Jewish platforms suffered significant defeats. In the high-profile race for the 6th Congressional District, Jewish Congressman Randy Fine decisively defeated social media personality Dan Bilzerian. According to NBC, Fine secured about 57% of the vote compared to Bilzerian's 18%. Fine, who is backed by former President Donald Trump, will advance to the November general election in this conservative district. Bilzerian's campaign was marked by blatant antisemitic attacks, including controversial remarks about the Holocaust and Fine's Jewish identity, which Fine dismissed as "crazy things."
Meanwhile, in the Republican gubernatorial primary, Congressman Byron Donalds, also supported by Trump, won approximately 49% of the vote. His opponent, James Fishback, who centered his campaign on opposition to Israel and promised to attract investments from Israeli bonds while calling Israel a "scam," finished far behind with only about 10.5%. Donalds will face Democratic candidate David Jolly in the November general election. These results reflect a rejection of anti-Israel rhetoric among Florida Republican voters in key races.
