UK Green Party Faces Antisemitism Scandal Over Calls to Kill Zionists

The UK Green Party is embroiled in a new antisemitism controversy following leaked messages from an internal WhatsApp group called "Greens Against Imperialism." The messages, published by the Daily Mail, reveal party activists discussing the "killing of Zionists," describing British Jews as "weapons" of Israel, and normalizing violence against Jews. One conversation even referred to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, designated a terrorist organization in the UK, as part of a "national liberation movement." The group was founded by Sophus Magill, a Green Party community council member, who wrote that "Zionism must go" and expressed a desire for Israel to be wiped off the map. Another party member claimed that this year's protests against the Iranian regime were "presented and armed by Americans and Zionists."

In response to the revelations, Labour MP David Taylor condemned the messages as "disgusting," urging the Green Party to immediately identify and expel those involved and report them to the police. Former politician Lord Woolley warned that justifying political violence endangers British Jews and reflects virulent antisemitism within the progressive left. He further stated that if the party continues to deny its extremism, it should be treated like far-right groups. The Green Party spokesperson declined to comment on internal forums or WhatsApp discussions, noting these are not official party channels.
