Israel’s Unique Pulsating Spring Ein Maboa Reopens After Two Years

After being closed for over two years, the rare pulsating spring Ein Maboa in the Prat Stream nature reserve has reopened to the public. The site now features a new parking lot with around 60 spaces and offers free entry with prior registration. Located in the heart of the desert landscape of the Prat Stream, Ein Maboa is renowned for its extraordinary hydrological phenomenon where the spring’s water flow cycles between flowing and stopping due to natural underground karst cavities filling and emptying.

This pulsating spring is one of only a few dozen such springs worldwide and is considered one of the most impressive and accessible examples. The pulsation effect is most visible during the summer months, attracting hikers, families, and nature enthusiasts from across Israel. The Israel Nature and Parks Authority manages the site and encourages visitors to experience this unique natural spectacle during the summer season.
