US Works to Establish Mechanism to Prevent Clashes Between Israel, Syria, and Turkey
US envoy Tom Barrett told Reuters that the United States is working to create a mechanism aimed at preventing conflicts between Israel, Syria, and Turkey. He noted that Turkey was not given prior warning about Israeli airstrikes in Idlib the previous night and detected the aircraft only as they flew north toward Turkish territory. This lack of advance notice allowed Turkey to prepare for a possible military response. Barrett added that, fortunately, restraint prevented the situation from escalating further.
